For the latest chapter of their sonic manifesto, Yoo Doo Right (Montréal, QC) engage with deep sonic exploration, purposeful looping motifs, and dynamic walls of sound, reigniting their unwavering connection to experimental music. In turn, tracks from Build and Rest by the Shepherd’s Light range from loud, amplified forreys into post-rock and krautrock, all the way to highly-tempered, effects-laden pieces akin to ambient, noise, and drone. Straying away from pragmatic boundaries, this offering opts for a rather symbolic approach to creation, the different pieces free to unfold in a myriad of ways upon listening. From the creators’ point of view, the album chronicles the hardships of artistic resolve, acknowledging the daily grind required to keep the momentum going, all the while embracing the shared joy that permeated the creation process. Build and Rest by the Shepherd’s Light was recorded by Ky Brooks at Hotel2Tango (GY!BE, Wolf Parade, Do Make Say Think) and Error 403 in Montréal (QC), mixed by Seth Manchester at Machine with Magnets (Battles, Lightning Bolt, Deer Tick) in Pawtucket (RI), and mastered by Amar Lal at Macro Sound (Pile, Hannah Frances, Titus Andronicus) in Oakland (CA). Its cover art shows a photograph taken in Ovronnaz, CH by Julia Bender. Yoo Doo Right’s fourth full-length is scheduled for release on November 6th, 2026 via Mothland.

With The Farm, NYC renegades TVOD further polish their sharp, danceable brand of post-punk—driving basslines, punchy drums, and angular guitars with vocals that feel both detached and urgent. Drawing from underground influences while keeping a modern edge, these songs are gritty yet catchy, perfect for crowded venues and late-night sets. As a whole, the album is propelled by a restless momentum, all the while reflecting the creative chaos of Brooklyn’s distinctive music scene. Written partly on a farm in Neufchâtel-en-Bray (FR), the sophomore album draws parallel to a satirical commandment from George Orwell’s Animal Farm: “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.” To that effect, the album explores themes with regards to power, hypocrisy, and a society that feels increasingly absurd, TVOD poking fun at authority while capturing anger, tension, and the collective unease of today. As social contracts collapse and human tenacity becomes commodified, city dwellers long for a simpler, rural lifestyle—only to find that the rot has spread even to the furthest reaches of modern life.

Avec The Farm, les renégats new-yorkais TVOD affinent davantage leur post-punk tranchant et dansant: des lignes de basse entraînantes, une batterie percutante et des guitares angulaires accompagnées de voix à la fois détachées et urgentes. Puisant dans des influences underground tout en gardant une touche moderne, ces nouvelles chansons sont brutes mais accrocheuses, parfaites pour les salles bondées et les sets de fin de soirée. Dans l'ensemble, l'album est propulsé par un élan incessant, tout en reflétant le chaos créatif distinct de la scène musicale de Brooklyn. Écrit en partie dans une ferme à Neufchâtel-en-Bray (FR), ce deuxième long jeu établit un parallèle avec un commandement satirique d’Animal Farm (ou La Ferme des animaux) de George Orwell: « Tous les animaux sont égaux, mais certains sont plus égaux que d'autres. » À cet égard, l'album explore des thèmes liés au pouvoir, à l'hypocrisie et à une société qui semble de plus en plus absurde. TVOD se moque de l'autorité tout en capturant la colère, la tension et le malaise collectif d'aujourd'hui. Alors que les tissus sociaux s'effondrent et que la ténacité humaine semble banalisée, les citadins aspirent à un mode de vie plus simple… mais découvrent que la pourriture s'étend même jusqu’aux régions rurales.

Truck Violence's sophomore full-length record, The weathervane is my body (June 26th, 2026 via The Flenser & Mothland), is an attempt to answer, an attempt at conciliation through refusal. The weathervane is my body is a continuation, an expansion, a further scribbling together of that angry statement of purpose that is their debut album, aptly titled Violence. Rooted in the noise rock and post-hardcore traditions, and steeped in a DIY ethic that runs deep in Canadian underground culture, the record is uncompromising in its refusal to be anything other than what it is: immediate, self-determined, and built entirely by the hands that imagined it. Highly recommended to fans of Show Me the Body, Chat Pile or The Chariot.

With sophomore full-length Bingo!, La Sécurité have crafted yet another genuine and inspired collection of beautiful curiosities. Following up on their critically-acclaimed debut Stay Safe! (June 16th, 2023 via Mothland), the five-piece further implement polyrhythms, counter-intuitive chord changes, as well as subtle melodic and harmonic dissonance. The resulting forays into subversive pop are catchy and dancey, while also challenging the listener via eclectic, often edgy arrangements. The album sees the Montréal/Tiohtià:ke collective introduce even more elements from no wave, noise rock, and shoegaze to their signature alloy of bilingual “spring-loaded post-punk” (Post-Trash), all the while “channeling art punk and new wave into something jittery, confrontational, and irresistibly kinetic.” (Range) In turn, Bingo! (June 12th, 2026 via Bella Union & Mothland) aptly harnesses La Sécurité’s natural sound, which fuses calculated musical chaos and uncanny musicality in dealing a powerful and distinct barrage of decibels.
