With “Bittersweet Symphony”, neo-psych outfit Spaceface pay tribute to The Verve by rearranging their timeless Britpop classic. The cover, akin to the original version, starts off with the much-maligned string hook (this time, the affair of the guitar) before drastically shifting into an electronics-heavy rock anthem anchored around a huge backbeat, phasing synth bass, sloppy tambourine, and a plethora of harmonic layers. This slick new offering from the Los Angeles band should please fans of MGMT, LCD Soundsystem or Temples.
